the end

I needed a fresh start, so I am moving my blog to this place. I also went through and erased all of the silly pointless posts. I was going to delete this one, but at Nush’s suggestion, I am going to leave it up for all of my stalker types 😉
Please update your links and bookmarks when possible 🙂 See you there.

I have found my new favoritest thing: Swapping! Too bad it took me so long to try it out… =D
My very first swap was with Abbey, and she is such fun! She sent me a lovely box of goodies that was so much fun to open. She sent me some knitting magazines, CANDY (I can’t wait until I can have sugar again!!!), gorgeous cotton/angora blend yarn, a mix CD– I am listening to it now, and a bucnh of other lovely things! Thank you so, so much! Everything is perfect =)
Here are some pictures:

(I am thinking maybe a floppy hat or a lace neck warmer is the project for these yarns)

This only makes me wish I had sent her more things… pooh.
One thing I was very interested in was the Marmite. I am assuming it is kind of like the UK version of Veggiemite… but I may be way off?? Anyway, I was kind of apprehensive about trying it, but I couldn’t be a wimp and not test it. I toasted a small piece of whole wheat bread, as that is the recommended way to eat it. Upon opening the adorable little jar:

I found what looked to be melted hot fudge sauce… the taste was not exactly what I expected =D It is very salty and odd tasting, I have yet to decide if I like it or not. lol.
Thanks Abbey! I love it so!

He stopped eating cakes, but only because he ran out of cakes.

Just a quick little note: I put everything in the store on Clearance. The stuff in the shop now aren’t really going along with the new direction I am going towards with my shop. I actually won’t be adding anything until January 1st, I am going to be working on my actual ideas and hopefully when I open again, there will be many new things.

Sugar-free berry muffins

Sugar-free, whole wheat, berry muffins.

1 cup mashed banana
One tablespoon flaxseed, mixed well with three tablespoons cold water
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup milk
2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup berries (I used raspberry, but blueberries, blackberries or finely chopped strawberries would also work well)

1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Line or spray 15 muffin cups.
2. In a large bowl, stir together banana, flax mixture, water, and milk or oil. Add flour and mix. Quickly stir in baking soda and powder, then mix gently. Fold in berries. Spoon batter into preared tins.
3. Bake for about 20 minutes or until they test done. Cool very slightly, and remove to wire rack.

*You can use oil in place of the milk. The muffins come out very soft using milk- the oil will make it slightly more crumbly.

Hopefully a more interesting post will surface tomorrow, but for now, I need to make dinner.

I’m not feeling so great this week. I haven’t gotten much done (except my scarf), but everything is just looking a little daunting. I don’t have to get anything done, per se, but I’m so tired all the time nothing will ever get done. The doctor said I may have thyroid problems as well, and I had to get blood drawn on Thursday. I want to feel better, but honestly sometimes I would rather just ignore it and get on with things. I have to take a lot of weird pills and drink this gross stuff, and I can’t eat much of anything. While I realize that a lot of people have worse ailments, it’s frustrating that I’m only 15 and yet I feel like I need to sleep constantly, I’m always tired and rundown, I get frustrated by everything and I can’t be stable in anything. I don’t know what to do about the shop. I’ve sold one thing, and I love doing it but sometimes I don’t know if I have the energy. I realize I am complaining, so just ignore that -_- I feel so uninspired and unable to make anything. I used to draw and play my guitar regularly and now every drawing is ugly and I tear it up and I can’t play the guitar worth beans.
Advice or tips anyone? I am too lazy to take pictures of anything right now… as usual.

then i’ll lose my mind

I finally have pictures! The first is of the birthday gift I knit for my mom. I used this pattern from Knitty, but modified it to a length I wanted without the weird branch/leaf thing. While it is not the best picture, it shows the itty bitty cable- which would have worked better with a less variagated yarn. Also, my mom is modeling it:

Remember a few posts ago when I talked about thrift shopping? I did not photograph everything I got- I had to go babysitting-, but I did get a picture of my vintage dress. No laughing at the pictures, my mom got a camera for a birthday. These pictures also show my new haircut. It isn’t exactly what I anted, but it will do until I take the shears to it myself and cry becuase I ruined it.

(you know I make sexy faces….)

I really like the dress. You can’t tell in the pictures, but it is knee length- which I never wear. The shoes do not match, which I was told multiple times, but I don’t care. While it is way different from my normal outfits (as in really girly), I like how it looks.
Today was a moderately productive day, a little sewing on a bag and cutting out a dress for a friend, but becuase my lack of foresight when it comes to buying supplies I can’t continue.
Also, I fixed my camera! I have an old non-digital camera as well as a Polaroid camera I have to buy film for. No pictures are developed right now, but hopefully I’ll get the hang of it at a later time.
Oh yes, this weekend was my mom’s birthday so I thought I would share the recipe for her cake. While I made five million other dishes, this one was the best.
The recipe is actually from the back from the Hershey’s cocoa jar, but just pretend I made it up all by myself.

* 2 cups sugar
* 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 3/4 cup HERSHEY’S Cocoa
* 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2 eggs
* 1 cup milk
* 1/2 cup vegetable oil
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 1 cup boiling water

1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.

2. Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans.

3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost with “PERFECTLY CHOCOLATE” CHOCOLATE FROSTING. 10 to 12 servings.

ONE-PAN CAKE: Grease and flour 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Heat oven to 350° F. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes. Cool completely. Frost.

THREE LAYER CAKE: Grease and flour three 8-inch round baking pans. Heat oven to 350°F. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost.

BUNDT CAKE: Grease and flour 12-cup Bundt pan. Heat oven to 350°F. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 50 to 55 minutes. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely. Frost.

CUPCAKES: Line muffin cups (2-1/2 inches in diameter) with paper bake cups. Heat oven to 350°F. Fill cups 2/3 full with batter. Bake 22 to 25 minutes. Cool completely. Frost. About 30 cupcakes.

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine
2/3 cup HERSHEY’S Cocoa
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency. Add small amount additional milk, if needed. Stir in vanilla. About 2 cups frosting.

*Note: I did not take any pictures in this post, except for the first. I do not have a digital with which I can post, so my mom took them.

We only want what’s best, for him.

And now, the moment you have all been waiting for (actually probably not)… I finally have pictures of my car! No, it’s not so crafty, except for maybe the ‘detailing’ aka cleaning I did to it yesterday, but who cares?
Yes, he is old and rickety looking. Yes, he could use a good bath, and probably a paint job (pink, anyone?), but I love him. He’s so cute and funny looking in a good way. These pictures do not do much justice to his looks. I tried to get better ones, but to no avail. Someday…
Anyway, he is a 1971 Toyota Corolla- can you say vintage?-, with no heating or air conditioning- perfect for those Colorado winters-, he is baby blue and is probably about 8 or nine feet long. I actually feel normal sized when driving.*
On to the pictures:

No pictures of the inside. Even after all of the cleaning, it still needs a little sprucing up.
Oh yes, and his name. My mom and I thought of his name while driving home after shopping the other day. We were listening to an 80’s song, and being Australian (I believe( they pronounced the same quite hilariously. Anyway, his name is: Nigel. Yes, Nigel. I also added a middle name, making him Nigel Elliott. Cool, eh? If you couldn’t tell, I really do like this car. I just hope he lasts until I can actually drive him by myself 😀

*Being 5’1″ can make a person feel a little stunted when driving, say, a mini-van or huge Ford truck.

Anchors away

This whole not sewing thing is a little odd O_o On the one hand, I wouldn’t mind doing a little creating, but on the other it’s kind of nice.
I’m trying out screen printing. My mom laughed at me for starting yet another thing 😀 I obviously don’t have any of the correct tools, but I am trying out the cheapy version to see what I think. The glue is going everywhere but since when do I not make huge messes?

This is actually a very old project. I made it to wear to a wedding in like… um… I am going to say June?? These pictures were taken very quickly, and, I have nothing better to show for it. One of these days I will buy a nice camera of my own and try to take half-decent photos.
Anyway, on to the pictures:

(note: I think I was half done teasing my hair, thats whats wrong with it… at least I hope I wasn’t done O_o)

(Isn’t that the most adorable fabric ever?? I love it! This one is closer to the actual color of the dress.)

Did you notice I didn’t block out my face? lol. I am making a tard face in the first picture, but honestly I don’t care right now.

Hrm, what to talk about? I really wish I could be more interesting on my blog, but I talk better in real life then I do online. Maybe after more project it will get better.

My car might be able to come today! I really hope he does. As soon as possible (meaning next week X_X) I will take pictures of my* baby and you can all know his name as well. Hopefully he doesn’t break down and die before then. ha.
I will stop rambling now. To end this all, I am going to bless you all with some vintage hilarity. O.K., so it isn’t hilarious, but I think it’s kind of cute and funny.

*Note: The car is not mine per se. I call it mine and my mom is always reminding me that it is not mine it is hers and my dad’s. I will still call it mine, but it isn’t… yet.

*edit* I am in the middle of a small personal swap, but I was wondering if anyone would like to do a personal swap with me? Preferably someone who lives farther away and has access to all of the goodies unavailable here 😀 Anyway, it doesn’t really have to be extremely crafty. Maybe some small things: fabric, magazines, candy, small projects, etc. If you might be slightly interested, leave a comment and I can give you my e-mail address 🙂 If no one wants to, it’s not a huge deal. I might just join on Craftster….
