Finally a picture post! Be warned, these pictures are what happen when you are home alone with the flu. lol.
Anyway, I lost the before picture to this first project, which is annoying becuase it is so much more interesting with. It started at as a gigantic men’s polo shirt. I stitched close the polo opening, turned that to the back, slimmed at and fixed the sleeves. I honestly like simple recons better than the really crazy ones.
So, on to the pictures of my Argyle sweater dress:
This is a picture of the back where the buttons and polo collar were:
The second is very simple. I found this shirt:
And made it fitted with medium length sleeves and black jersey bands around the bottom and the sleeves.
If you couldn’t tell, I like standing on my sink.
I apologize for the lack of interesting posts on my blog. I’ve been sick quite a lot, and I have been busy with a few swaps. I am trying to be better about posting more interesting things, but I forget a lot.
Someday I will also take better pictures, but I didn’t really feel up to it.
My day today consisted of sitting on the couch with a big basket of yarn next to me. I finished up some things, frogged some others. I also started a few new projects which I’m not sure about yet
I have a Halloween lament. I am the queen of Halloween. I make myself some crazy costume that U’ve been planning for months, I usually make costumes for a few other people, and I always end up with the most candy. Halloween is my favorite holiday- seriously, it is. But this year is different… First, I have nothing to do. I don’t really even have a posse I can gather up to watch stupid movies or go trick or treating with. I can’t have candy anyway, and making a costume to wear while being sick on the couch would probably be worse than not dressing up at all. Maybe next year… or I could just dress up for Christmas and pretend it’s Halloween. Now there’s an idea.
Sugar-free, whole wheat, berry muffins.
1 cup mashed banana
One tablespoon flaxseed, mixed well with three tablespoons cold water
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup milk
2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup berries (I used raspberry, but blueberries, blackberries or finely chopped strawberries would also work well)
1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Line or spray 15 muffin cups.
2. In a large bowl, stir together banana, flax mixture, water, and milk or oil. Add flour and mix. Quickly stir in baking soda and powder, then mix gently. Fold in berries. Spoon batter into preared tins.
3. Bake for about 20 minutes or until they test done. Cool very slightly, and remove to wire rack.
*You can use oil in place of the milk. The muffins come out very soft using milk- the oil will make it slightly more crumbly.
Hopefully a more interesting post will surface tomorrow, but for now, I need to make dinner.
I’m sorry for the lack of actual craftiness on my blog. I have been crafting, but now that school has started I have been kind of busy. I will try to get some good pictures up this weekend, and hopefully I will get a few small chips into my mountain of projects 🙂
I did go thrifting yesterday and found some of the cutest fabric!
This one is a pink and white ribbed jersey. I think there are about two yards which is pretty good for $1.50:
I also bought this paisley fabric. I don’t really know what to do with it. It may be a tiny bit to busy for something to wear :D:
This is just for laughs. I was looking for a striped shirt for a dress type thing I am making. This is what turned up:
It is probably the ugliest dress I’ve ever seen… but for two dollars I can probably get a dress plus fabric for other projects. Can you imagine someone actually wearing this? lol.
Again, I’m sorry for being boring lately. School does that to people…
I don’t have very much time to post this week- I will be busy with school, projects, and a knitting commission (lol)- so this is a very quick post.
Both purses are for sale on my etsy shop Square Peg.
*EDIT:* I now have PayPal on my Etsy, and my mom started a shop also: Simple Things
She has been selling for a while but just got her Etsy up.
Fine. So there aren’t any trains or automobiles (AH! that word is hard to type…), but there is an airplane.
A messenger with appliqued clouds and a plane. There are more picture and more info on my Etsy: squarepeg.etsy.com
I’m not a big fan of messenger bags, but I kind of like this one. Besides, it has polka-dots 😀
EDIT: I have been looking all over for shoes, and I found some! They had some in the same stlye at Wal-Mart, but they were the same price and the deisgns were kind of blah. I think I’m going to get the polka dot ones (what else?) and the red and blue stripey ones. I am excited now 😀
I love this purse. I think it’s my favorite so far:
The zipper was the biggest pain in the butt of all time… I actually found the fabric at the thrift store. It is a huge king size sheet in brand new condition, so expect some clothing of the same material 😀
The bag is for sale on my Etsy, http://squarepeg.etsy.com
I opened the store! There are only two purses in it, but I am working on more 🙂
I haven’t made a banner for it or anything, but that will be up at some point. Thanks for all of your nice comments! I really appreciate it.
Oh yes, I could use some of your prayers/thoughts right now… Thanks.
Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
I dislike AAR’s new music, but I like the lyrics…
